Getting started

Starting with a new provider should feel clear.

We listen first, explain what SCL can provide and make sure the important arrangements are understood before regular supports begin. Making an enquiry does not commit you to anything.

How it works

The details vary from person to person, but the main steps are simple.

  1. 1

    Tell us what you need

Make an enquiry or send a referral. Tell us the type of support you are looking for, where you need it and when you are hoping to start.

  2. 2

    We talk it through

We learn about your goals, preferences, funding and support needs, then tell you honestly whether SCL is the right fit and whether we have capacity.

  3. 3

    We agree the arrangements

If you choose to proceed, we confirm the services, prices and information needed to support you safely. You have time to ask questions and involve someone you trust.

  4. 4

    Support begins

We confirm your first support, introduce the worker where appropriate and check in early so anything that does not feel right can be adjusted.

Timing depends on the support

Some supports can start quickly. Complex or specialised supports may take longer because the right workers, funding arrangements and safety information need to be in place first. We will give you a realistic timeframe rather than promise a date we cannot meet.

You stay in control.

You can ask questions, take more time, involve someone you trust or decide that another provider is a better fit. An enquiry or conversation with us does not remove any of those choices.

  • Ask questions and take time to decide
  • Involve an advocate, family member or trusted person
  • Receive information in a way you understand
  • Ask for changes to proposed arrangements
  • Choose another provider
  • Stop the process before services begin
