What is NDIA managed funding?
Sometimes called Agency managed funding. The NDIA receives provider claims, pays providers directly, keeps financial records, and records claims against your plan. You do not normally receive and pay the provider invoice yourself.
Choosing providers
You choose your providers, but providers delivering NDIA managed supports must be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
Before starting, confirm the provider is registered, can deliver the approved support, the service is in line with your plan, the price and schedule are agreed, and sufficient funding is available.
What is a "my provider"?
A provider recorded in the NDIS system as one of those delivering supports under your plan. Recording a provider may make it easier for valid claims to be processed. The NDIA may contact you when a claim is made by a provider not recorded for your plan.
Checking claims
Regularly check the participant portal or my NDIS app for claims made against your plan, provider names, dates of support, amounts claimed, funding remaining, and anything you do not recognise. Contact the provider and the NDIA promptly if something looks wrong.
What stays your responsibility
- Choosing providers
- Agreeing to supports
- Ensuring supports are in line with your plan
- Monitoring your budget
- Checking provider claims
- Reporting anything you did not authorise
- Telling the NDIA about relevant changes
Why funding may be NDIA managed
Because you chose it, because you did not choose another option, because you would rather not manage payments, because the NDIA determined another option creates unreasonable risk, or because funding has not been used in line with the plan. The NDIA should explain the arrangements recorded in your plan.
